The school started in 1973 as First Baptist Christian School of League City. It grew to 230 students by 1978. The name was changed to Bay Area Christian School in 1985. The school has continued to grow until facilities were at capacity with 630 students in 1995. The strong demand has produced waiting lists for enrollment since 1992. A new gymnasium and field house were completed in 1995 to enhance the athletic and P.E. programs. The school serves the suburban south Houston area including students who come from League City, Clear Lake, South Houston, Friendswood, Dickinson, Alvin, and other nearby communities. The school is expected to continue to have controlled quality growth in the future. The school is owned and operated as a ministry of  Bay Area First Baptist Church.
