October 31 Head of School Weekly Update

Dear BACS Family,
In the life of a private Christian school, October is an eagerly anticipated time, as it marks the opening of kindergarten registration. I enjoy meeting with our Pre-K 4/Bridge ELA families who are considering the next steps in their child’s education. I also appreciate hearing why they are considering our school, and often they say, “We want our child to have a Christian education, not just a good education.” These parents are absolutely right. If we are made in God’s image and created to glorify Him, then an education that promotes a biblical worldview can be incredibly fulfilling.
There’s no denying that we are in a worldview crisis, which makes it more important than ever to surround our students with teachers, coaches, pastors, and other Christian influencers who hold a biblical worldview. Studies have shown that kids need approximately five other adults in their lives to reinforce their faith in order to develop a lasting faith. Dr. Kara Powell and Dr. Chap Clark, in their book Sticky Faith, reveal that a 5:1 ratio (five adults to one child) is essential for producing a faith that “sticks.” I would argue that we probably need even more than five. Regardless of the exact number, the discipleship influence of others matters greatly in the spiritual growth of your child’s faith. Thank you for making the investment in this kind of community for them. I firmly believe it’s an investment that will not return void.
As a former varsity football coach, I’m reminded that this time of year is always bittersweet. It’s when our seniors participate in their final games on the courts and fields. This Friday night at the football stadium, we will celebrate Senior Night and recognize several groups as they participate in their last home events of the fall season. Kickoff is at 7:00, with the Senior Night Ceremony beginning at approximately 6:35.
Finally, thank you for your continued prayers for our school, our students, and our faculty and staff. It’s the greatest gift you could ever give.
It’s a great day to be a Bronco!
